Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my shock absorbers are worn?
Signs include a bouncy or floaty ride, nose-dive under braking, body roll in corners and oil residue on the shock body. We inspect them on the hoist and tell you what we find.
Is it safe to drive with a clunking suspension?
It depends on the cause. A worn bush may be an annoyance, but a failing ball joint or control arm can affect steering control, so have a clunk checked sooner rather than later.
Why is my steering wheel vibrating?
Vibration can come from worn suspension parts, tyre or wheel problems, or brake rotors if it happens when braking. We work out which by inspecting and road testing.
Why does my steering feel heavy or loose?
Heavy steering can point to a power steering fault, while looseness often means worn steering or suspension joints. Either deserves a prompt inspection.
