Service, repair or replace?

If your gearbox is healthy, a service is all it needs. If something is wrong, we diagnose the fault before recommending anything, and explain the options and the cost of each. You decide, with the whole picture.

Frequently asked questions

How often should an automatic transmission be serviced?

Follow your logbook where it lists a fluid service, and ask us if it says nothing. Many workshops recommend a fluid service well before the car is old, because fluid wears even when the manufacturer calls it lifetime fill.

What does a full transmission service include?

Draining and replacing the transmission fluid with the correct specification, replacing the filter where the gearbox has one, checking for leaks, and verifying that shifting is smooth afterwards.

Why do some people say never change transmission fluid?

It is an old myth, usually repeated about very high-kilometre gearboxes that were already worn. On a healthy European gearbox, fresh fluid of the right specification is cheap protection, but the right procedure matters.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace a transmission?

It depends on the fault. We diagnose first and give you the options with prices, so the decision is yours and based on what is actually wrong.
